Default Take A Guess At What I Saw!

I was sitting on my couch the other day watching junk on TV and I happened to look outside the back window. There walked a young buck about 25 foot from my window. I didn't get to count points because he was travelling quick, but I was so shocked, I couldn't have gotten a shot of even if it were deer season. Weird. When I want to see them, they all hide.

Cool. Don't know where you live but I'd keep that place if I was you.

LOL! My husband wants to know where you live too! He says he wouldn't have to use the tree stand this year if he lived there. It's a crying shame you had to let it pass. Do you live out in the country enough that you could have gotten by with a deer disappearing? Hmmmmmm?

If I caught a deer in my yard the kids would flip out, we have nothing "wild" in our area. Now if we head out to visit family deeper into the boonies we might have better luck.

I live in the deep boonies. I see a little bit of everything. We had a fox and kits this spring. Possum are around all the time and my wife about killed one with a broom this summer. We have wild turkey hanging out at our place and even had a visiting chicken one day and I didn't even think anyone had any chickens around me but I guess they did.

From my back porch, I've seen deer, moose, badgers, coyotes, foxes, bobcats and cougars and probably several other interesting critters. Elk and bear stay away though. I saw a wolf/coyote last winter but it was 3/4 mile away so couldn't ID it for certain. It was either a very big coyote and darker than normal or a young wolf. A careful walk along the creek and you can see muskrats, mink, coons and skunks. Ducks, Geese, Sandhill cranes, sharptail grouse, pheasants, hun partridges, chukar partridges also come visiting especially after the grain has been cut. If a coyote or fox is out in the field digging for gophers or voles, he has a free pass. If he starts hanging around the chicken coop......we get some target practice.

Sounds good to me Grandpa. I don't like living where I can't "urinate" off the porch without being seen by anyone except my wife. I would rather have to travel 50 miles to civilization than to have to fight my urge to go kill the neighborhood teenager for blasting "Lady Gaga" or some other nonsense music. Give me Lynard Skynard or Black Sabbath any day and I'm happy but it has to be in my schedule instead of on someone else's. I would much rather listen to the wind through the trees or a bird singing.

Kudos to Grandpa and Boboque. I "urinate" off my porch. And I've shot deer. opossum, squirrel, rabbit, fox, and raccoon off that porch also. And once I shot the neighbor's dog. He was trying to get into the pen to get my goose, Grumble. I like that goose. She gives me eggs in the Spring and is my early warning system.

Having an abundance of "livestock" running around can be a problem as well. I remember back years ago. I was maybe 13 or 14. Woke up and saw a rooster pheasant sitting in the tree outside my window. It was raining and he was up there off the cold ground. Naturally I got my shotgun and invited him for supper. Bad thing was I kinda forgot about my mother in another part of the house. I really felt bad when I saw how upset she was hearing that shot from the bedroom. Took all the fun out it for both of us.
