Bow season - get one?

I've got to tell you I am a bit grossed out with Facebook and my friends. Okay not all of them but some of them. I click on Facebook on my phone today and the first 3 pictures are of dead deer hanging from trees! Yep, 3 of my friends have bagged their first deer of the season. I say impressive - especially with bows but I don't want to see it.

If you hit it right the deer doesn't suffer. That being said, they are a meat animal and if you want to eat sometimes you just have to do it. I'm not fond of venison but my nephew takes any and all deer we bag for the meat so I don't feel guilty.

Venison is an excellent, lean meat when taken from a healthy animal. It can be as tasty when cooked the same as any beef meal. Some people 'think' that they won't like it just because it is a game animal.

I love venison and most other game animals. I especially LOVE quail and wild turkey (the kind with feathers :P). It tastes all the better for having provided it for the family table for ourselves. I have a cousin who won't eat a home raised beef but she will go to the store and buy commercial beef. Go figure!

I don't have a problem with people hunting and killing deer. I just don't want to see the dead deer on Facebook. No, I have not gotten rid of Facebook yet. I'm hooked!
