Anyone seen this video yet?

Using a 338 cal. and a 300 grain bullet this shot was a confirmed kill at 950 yds.

Gosh ... I didn't even see the deer the firs time. I did on the replay, though. I'm guessing his gun was mounted?

I have a friend who does this kind of thing. He is a gunsmith, and has built his own long-range guns for the purpose. He also prefers the .338 caliber bullet, but uses a wildcat cartridge. He's made some impressive shots with excellent results, but they are few and far between given the serious amount of data and set-up a shot like that takes. Not my thing, way too much can go wrong. Impressive when someone has the patience and skill to pull it off.

Back when I was gunsmithing, we had a customer that would only take shots that were over 1000yds. We built him a Weatherby .30-378 on a Ruger #1 action. He had his own range at his house and would practice and train all year round. He was the first person to take a Grand Slam of African plains game where every shot was over 1000yds.

Unethical kill IMO.
At that range it is just a guess on where the bullet will hit and I am surprised the bullet had enough energy left to make a clean kill.
JMO but I am set in my ways.
250 yards is my limit on ethical hunting shots.

Impressive but there are people that made far longer shots (even three times) in the army. Although truth to be told they had a lot stronger caliber and weapon.
