Hog hunting with dogs

We have been watching a lot of hunting videos lately on myoutdoortv.com and we saw quite a few where people were using their dogs (usually pitbulls) to hunt hogs. Do any of you guys do this or have you seen this? I have a pit and she is a family member so I would never even consider it. Hogs are MEAN!

Are these wild hogs they are hunting? I can't imagine why you would use dogs to hunt farm raised hogs. That would seem cruel to both the hog and the dog.

I've never heard of it either.... I didn't know people hunted hogs? I'm thinking they are wild- they wouldn't be hunting farmers pigs (or should I hope).
Where are there wild hogs in the States?

Apparently there are wild hogs lots of places but most of the videos were shot in the south eastern US. They were wild hogs or boars not sure what you are supposed to call them.

Yes, people use dogs to hunt wild hogs/boars... I have a friend that uses his pitbull to hunt them, he has a special set of body armor for the dog because a boar can tear a dog to pieces with it's tusks.

I am glad he uses protection for the dog. I just couldn't do it I am all for hunting but just shoot it... don't risk a dog's life that way!

pits are generally used as catch dogs, most people wil put a cut vest and collar on their catch dogs. we even putvest and collars on are bay dogs that are agressive . it is a great sport hunting with dogs, at times it is the only way of catching hogs,when the hogs become trap smart, it is the only way to take them alive. check out baydog.com or texas hog hunter.
