Default Hubby bagged a deer

My hubby brought in our first deer of the season today! She was a good sized doe, and I can't wait to get her in my freezer with the way grocery prices have been.

That is awesome Blueskyy! I missed my first one, but I am sure that he will be back. Makes you feel good to know that you are providing for your family though doesn't it?

Can you believe that some folks won't eat venison? I am amazed by this. They had rather eat steroid fed, anibiotic shot, super grain fed beef, pork and chicken than have some very lean all natural meat in their body. I just can't figure this out.

Wow, you folks have a much earlier deer season than we do. Bowhunting doesn't even start until October 15 and I can't go out with the guns until after Thanksgiving. I'm jealous!

Hi...

I'm not current on all opening dates, but bow season here opens Monday, Oct. 01.

I sure hope so Pathfinder! We are going back out this weekend so we will see what happens. I am very much a novice so he stays with me, but hopefully the next one will be mine. I did get to help him butcher it so that was a learning experience for me, and not nearly as disgusting as I thought it would be!

Mamabear-I've tried to eat venison, but I just can't stand the taste. I'm a "super taster" as defined by the medical profession and I really have a hard time with a lot of tastes. I did get sick as a young adult on some venison and I've tried to get around that by using different spices but it just doesn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions?
