Default Mountain Lion attack in Ntl. Park

Hi...

The Big Bend National Park issued a media alert regarding a mountain lion attack in the Chisos Basin of BBNP.

A six-year-old boy received non-threatening injuries during the attack on Feb. 05.

Perhaps some others can pull up some more information? You Tube, etc.?

Cats...the other white meat.

I just read this on a friends page on Google+, that is some scary stuff. I understand being safe when you are out and about but I wonder if that kid is going to shy off from the outdoors over this or not.

In addition to being a poor hunter, (or the kid would have been dead instantly) it sounds like something is physically wrong with the cat. Thin, small, emaciated sounds like a health problem. It had tried to attack another group earlier with no success. The rangers are trying to find it and put it down. It needs to be caught and determine what is wrong with it in case it can be spread to other animals.

Got a kick out of one of the commenters following the article I read. She wants it saved and removed somewhere else. As if it could survive killing deer when it can't kill a 6 yr old. That is why it is attacking humans, easier prey. Off the subject but can't help wondering if that commenter is also pro abortion.

Makes a lot of sense doesn't it Grandpa.... Some people just don't think - they think animal abuse. Those people drive me crazy. It's abuse to put it somewhere else and let it die because it can't feed itself.

I'm thankful that the boy is okay! I bet he will have nightmares for years to come.

I read about this too and I am glad the boy is going to be okay. Grandpa, this is off topic to OP but goes along with your response about the commenter. PETA is filing a lawsuit in the California Supreme Court to have the whales at SeaWorld released...because they are slaves. Here's a link.

Read about this on another forum and a poster that had basically the same point. I hadn't thought of this but makes sense when I thought about what he said. He was under the impression that this might have been a male that was forced out by the older bigger males before it learned to hunt. Would explain why the bites were on face not neck of the victim. I think I remember reading that this area has been having a bad drought so hunting maybe getting harder for the cats. I hope that people haven't been feeding them as if this is the case there will be more problems and more cats killed due to human stupidity.

Yes I've seen that one before many times. We have to save the animals but killing the children is okay. Children are such a nuisance.
