Default Coyotes

I live in North Carolina and never heard of coyotes being around this area. Now I'm hearing more and more about them coming into areas, especially after the re-introduction of turkeys into the wild. I do not want my grandchildren to run into a coyote.

coyotes are bashful concerning humans. They won't be a bother unless cornered and it is very difficult to corner a coyote. They will be a nuisance with your pets and garbage cans though

There are three kinds of men:
a. The ones that learn by reading.
b. The few who learn by observation.
c. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.

+1 what Grandpa said.
I live in coyote country, on my property all the time, and never had a problem with kids bothering the coyotes.
Allways be vigilant though, coyote could attack a small child if hungry/desperate enough I would think.

There are quite a few coyotes in my area now too.

I haven't heard the first report of them messing with any human. There are a few stories of them killing some peoples pets however.

The closest run in I had, I was out in my storage shed looking for something one night, and I heard them start howling right outside the building. I poked my head out and there were about five of them running around. All I had with me was a baseball bat, maybe a couple screwdrivers. Didn't matter though, once they seen me they bolted.

I think it's pretty neat to here them yipping and howling. I usually here them at least once an evening somewhere in the neighborhood.

There is no reason to fear coyotes. Just keep your pets away from them. We hear a coyote choir most nights sometimes within 100 yards of the house. A coyote pup died on the other side of my property fence this fall. A searchlight and a boat horn work to discourage them.

The pets is the biggie in our area too, for coyotes animal control will still come out to set humane traps for them. The only issue is I heard lately in our area they are pulling some of the jobs away from people, AC included.
