Default Glacier National Park - July 4th and following week.

Would anybody like to hook up for some camping and day hikes, possible overnighter in the backcountry. I have my flight booked and a very loose itenary set. Right now, it is just me, myself and I. Could use some company.

It might help your level of response, to describe yourself and your experience level. Where are you from and why did you chose Glacier? What are your favorite things to observe when you are out there? Etc. Good luck.

I am a 48 year old male with close to 25 years worth of experience in the outdoors. I mostly do long day hikes, and camp at an established park campground, but I have several overnight backcountry trips under my belt.

I choose Glacier N.P. based solely upon reputation and several reccomendations from various friends. I am a photographer, and I became very intriqued when I heard several people rave about all the incredible scenery and wildlife photo ops in Glacier.

You may get away with an early July visit this year but normally, you would still have snow in most canyons. Yellowstone is much lower in elevation and they don't issue campsite reservations prior to July 15. If you want a campsite prior to July 15 it is only issued if that area is open due to snow, high water or other natural reason they don't want you in there.

The scenery in Glacier is indeed awesome. Have a great trip. As I replied earlier on one of your posts, We'll be there in late August.

I checked the official NPS.gov website, and all of the developed campgrounds with the park boundary are scheduled to be open by July 4th. I am looking at Kintla Lake as my first option.

Switchback, there are a lot of people heading in that general direction from backpacker.com. You might want to check it out!
