Default New Years Day Weekend Coastal Carolina Style

Hunting Island State Park, SC or Edisto Beach State Park, SC for those that might be interested in welcoming in the New Year Carolina Lowcountry style. It might snow, it could be cold, but if you haven't experienced winter in the Carolinas you might have missed out on something really special! There are sites for those that might want to bring in their campers or RVs to those that want electricity or no perks but oceanfront sites to hear waves crashing on the surf. I'm fond of the primitive hike-in spots in the winter.

Both locations offer great trails to hike, rivers and creeks for yaks and canoes and areas to launch your own vessels. For those interested in history there are Indian shell middens, bunkers, forts, lighthouses that you can climb and barrier islands of incredible beauty slowly being erased from maps. Winter fishing is a special treat for those who dare venture out on the local rivers or cast their lines off piers or surf fish for Reds. I'm thinking about hiring a local guide just to increase the odds of catching some fish...winter fishing is an experience that will never be forgotten!

If anyone is interested or would like more information, please e-mail me.

You folks are really tempting me. There is a hammock group hang near Jamestown on the 7th too. I should give blood here on the 10th and then head south. You know anything about rc blood drives in chapel hill area.

Dang- if I could talk my wife into visiting her sister in Florida for new years, I'd be on that like white on rice!

Unfortunately that doesn't seem likely- perhaps next year. :-(
