Default Hiking in the Rain

Have you ever gotten rained on while hiking? Did you push forward, or look for shelter to wait it out. The one time it happened to me, I had no choice but to push forward because there was no shelter anywhere I looked!

A few times I've gotten some rain while hiking. Florida summers tend to get rain showers. Usually a few minutes, 10-20 minutes, sometimes up to an hour. Rain has never bothered me, it is the lightening I'm worried about. I believe my area is number one for the country for lightning strikes.

I don't mind hiking during a shower, but if there's lightning, or it's a downpour, I'll try and look for shelter. I always have one of those inexpensive ponchos in my pack when I go for a hike and there's a chance of rain.

If it's a Summer shower, it feels good so I keep moving on. If it's cold I look for shelter.

It depends on how much rain is pouring. If it is a raining buckets, I find any kind of shelter and wait out. If it is just a shower, I go on.

I am not a child anymore and I hate getting wet during hiking or trekking. But I did get some rain while trekking. It's not that bad as I use a raincoat, and it even made me feel less tired when walking uphill.
