| Favorite season for camping? I have to say, while I like all the water activities that you can do while camping during the Summer, Fall is actually my favorite season to go camping. I love going on trail hikes when the leaves are changing colors. I find it much more comfortable sleeping when it's not so warm. And nothing beats sitting around the campfire when there just a hint of chill in the air. So what's your favorite season for camping? | ||||||||

| I think I like camping early in Spring. Right when everything is just freshly grown. We are camping right now. It is Memorial Day weekend. I had to come home for a few more supplies. This is the earliest we have camped because where we camp, the mornings get very cold. We are actually right on a river, so it's really cold. This year, we bought a camp heater. Our tent is nice and toasty warm now. I love it! Our camping season will be able to be longer now because we will be able to stay warm at night. We camp right up until the end of August. Maybe this year we can make it into September. | ||||||||

| Absolutely fall for me. And not just for camping, either... I've always loved fall best of all. There's something so special when that first chill starts to set in and the outdoors smells sooooo wonderful. Senses are heightened, so everything you cook on the campfire smells 100 times better, too... and hot coffee tastes better going down. | ||||||||

| I have to agree with Tomboy - there's nothing quite like camping in fall. Those chilly nights around a campfire really do something to clear my head. I make it a point to take my last camping trip of the year at the end of October in Alabama and, man, it's always perfect weather. Plus, the bugs are minimal that time of year...always a bonus. | ||||||||

| Actually, I've not camped in the fall but I think I'd like to do that. I've been out in the summer and the middle of winter. My experience in the winter was without the proper gear for staying warm and it wasn't a good time. | ||||||||

| Reply I must admit my favourite season for camping in the great outdoors is in the Autumn, seeing all the trees leaves change color is magical to me. | ||||||||

| In India where I live...winters are without snow...so that time I find it so good to camp outside...sweat all day...roaming, walking, trekking and then snuggle inside the tents in the warm blankets.... | ||||||||

| Fall absolutely. The leaves are starting to change colors and the temperatures are not nearly so hot. The only season I don't really like to camp is summer but I live in Georgia so it's outrageously hot here in summer. | ||||||||

camping or most other outdoor activities. In my area it's the humidity and mosquitoes that would make it totally unpleasant. | |||||||||

| Fall here, for me too. We love to go up in the mountains and go camping not only because the leaves are changing and the weather is cooling down; but we also go up to get fresh apples and cider. We buy 20 gallons of cider at a time and freeze them for the next year. Gallons of cider have gotten so expensive over the past few years. So, we budget them out and go buy more every November. We also like camping and hiking in the early Winter months, when it hasn't gotten so cold that you see your breath. But then again, we also like going and renting a cabin with a fireplace at that time. So, I guess I like camping and hiking in both Fall and Winter. But, fall is my favorite. | ||||||||
