Default What is good food to bring camping for a weekend?

I am going camping and I don't know what to bring to eat. I am going camping for the weekend, so I will need 2 dinners, 2 breakfasts and 1 lunch. I have an ice chest, but nothing to cook with. Someone there might have a Coleman stove to use.

Hotdogs and hamburgers are always a good choice. Chicken, and ribs are some others. Pulled pork. The little individual boxes of cereal are good. If you don't have anything to cook with I would bring some bread and lunch meat.

Don't forget to bring some marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers for smores! To me, no camping trip would be complete without smores.

Check out to see if the campground has some bar-b-que grills for public use if the Coleman grill isn't going to cut it for what you want to do.

I think beans heated over an open fire are great. I also like diced onions mixed in with them. You could consider adding wieners too.

I've enjoyed boiled corn on the cob over a fire, when it's in season of course.

Check out a new product called the CanCooker for some great healthy ways to cook for that amount of people! Also, never forget Hobo cooking over a normal fire. Wrap food items in aluminum foil and place in a spot easily retrieved from the fire with tongs or a skewer.

Heres how I like it..

One bag baby carrots each carrot cut in half
Two tablespoons butter or butter substitute
Alittle garlic or onion powder sprinkled on the carrots

Same thing with potatoes!

Dinner:
Lipton Sides (dozens of kinds of rices and noodles) with chicken in a pouch or tuna in a pouch.
Pasta and sauce (I like tortellini)
Various soup mixes
Refried beans on tortillas with taco bell sauce packets

Breakfast:
Oatmeal
Bagels with nutella
Precooked bacon
Cheerios

Lunch:
I normally just snack. Go for granola bars, cheese crackers and summer sausage, fruit snacks, beef jerky, peanuts, peanut butter and crackers, peanut butter and bread

Bring lots of snack food and leave the cans at home.

Well if you don't have anything to cook with you can always use aluminum foil as goodnews had said. We usually take foil and wrap potatoes with onions and butter then throw them in a bed of coals and even do the same with pork steak or ribs etc. You can get some great ideas if you Google "open fire cooking" I believe is the term I Google usually. Of course you will want to bring snacks, who knows you may find yourself having such a great time that snacking is all you need. I know we've done that on several occasions, although I certainly don't recommend that for any said amount of time Have a wonderful trip!
