Intoxicated horseback riding I just had to share this. A friend of mine has a horse and lives down the street from a little country bar. When he goes to the bar, instead of driving he rides the horse. They have a place in the parking lot for him to tie the horse up and everyone is used to it so it has always worked out well for him in the past. Well, recently he was on his way home one night after having too much to drink and as he was riding down the road he started to fall off...just as a cop was driving by. I have never heard of this before, but he actually got a ticket. Not only that, but the only thing that stopped the cop from arresting him was that he couldn't figure out what to do with the horse! My friend is one of those people who always has crazy things happening to him, but I think this story went straight to the top of the list, lol.

Oh my that is funny. My husband and I watch the TV show about the silly things that cops run accross. One guy was falling off his riding lawn mower. They gave him a ticket too. Maybe your friend knows him? Just kidding lol.

That is really common here. People ride their horses in to pick up their kids from school and everything. We have had a few get tickets for driving their mowers intoxicated and one for riding a bike down the road while drunk. He got a public intox ticket. Crazy things eh!?

Now that you mention it, I saw on the news a couple weeks ago that a woman tried to pick up her kid from school on a horse and the school refused to release the child to her. For the life of me I can't remember where this happened, but I was so mad. They actually cited her with child endangerment! That has to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. On a lighter note, the intoxicated lawn mower riding sounds pretty funny. Then again, I guess if you have a lot of grass to cut you need a cold one (or two or three, lol).

We had a guy arrested locally for driving his John Deere tractor while intoxicated. They even impounded the tractor and his wife had to go and pay to get it out. She left him in jail though-for a lesson she said but i dunno.

I can understand the ticket for the lawn mower, because it is a dangerous piece of equipment, but I think a ticket for being drunk while riding a horse is a little excessive. If anything the cop should have helped him get back on the horse. Horses are very smart and would have probably got him home safely.

I have seen people riding their lawnmowers to the store to buy beer...wonder if they had lost their license due to DUI? The horse is a new one for me but they could definitely get you for public drunkeness.

I've also seen people ticketed for riding things like bikes, scooters etc. It does seem excessive but when you think about the problems they could possibly cause it's a smart way to keep people from getting hurt.

I used to ride a bike home from work drunk all the time! I worked at a bar, so we'd have a few drinks when we finished. I never got a ticket, but I always wondered what would happen if a cop stopped me.

I knew that you could get a ticket for riding a horse while intoxicated. It is the same with a bike. If you are coming home from a bar and riding a bike, you can also get a ticket if you drank too much. It is funny, just thinking of the cop pulling over the horse! That would be a funny picture to see.
