| When I first moved to the US, during the first year, nearly everything I owned was stolen. One item at a time. If it wasn't bolted down, they stole it, and if it was they stole it anyway.
I moved 75 miles south and now I can leave anything in my yard and nobody touches it. It's amazing what a difference you can have from one town to the next.
The worst part is that it was the rich kids that were the thieves. The wealthy kids would steal anything. It was the poor kids like me that wouldn't even dream of stealing from somebody because we understood how difficult it is to replace something like your heavy winter coat when you can barely afford food.
