Anyone chilly?

I saw this on a friends page and just started to think of all the fun one could have at the office or even at home with this thing. It almost sounds like a challenge to go out and get one now. I just saw this Liquid Nitrogen Dispenser on wired's website and really want one.

What in the he?? are they thinking? do you realize how dangerous that thing is? A drop of liquid nitrogen will "burn" a hole right through you until it warms up enough to stop.
Freezing someones coffee is one thing but a doornob? That could kill several layers of hide on the instant for whoever grabs the knob. This is not a tounge on flagpole joke but a very serious freezer burn at minus 300 or so degrees.

I do not think anyone who wanted to use it as a joke would go to the cruel side if torturing their coworkers. I could see trying to freeze someones work pen to their coffee mug though, I think that would be kind of funny.

In a 0 tolerance workplace, this would be an automatic dismisal.
Most workplace "incidents" are jokes gone wrong and this one is definately headed to the oops side.
And just what do you think the temp of that pen or cup will be after being cooled to a minus 300 degrees?

You can lower a rubber ball into liquid Nitrogen, pull it out, drop it on the floor and it will shatter into molecule size pieces. Just don't touch it or you may be getting skin grafts.

I sent years in the cryogenic industery.
LIN is fun to play with if you know what is going on.
I can hold a drop in my bare hand an never get burned....do not try this if you do not know the "trick".
I used to take a dewar home, a 100+/- gallon tank, of LIN home on Halloween and let it fog up the yard for the kids, they loved it and we had the coolest house on the block (till the cops and fire marshal showed up).
Why would anybody want a LIN dispenser?
