Some kind souls helped these bears escape

Backing up the truck to the dumpster rather than walking up with the ladder was a BRILLIANT IDEA. Probably the only way to do that without risking a mauling by that freaked out mother bear. The truck is big and loud enough to back her off and if it's not then you have a shot at shifting into drive and getting outta Dodge safely.

It does make me wonder how the cubs got in there in the first place.

Whew. I thought this might be another Southern brainiac endeavor! Cute cubs and very brave mommas.

Saved them this time. I hope they don't crawl in there just before the trash man comes to empty the dumpster.

Don't know where that was but where I used to live in NH we all knew to check for bears before going into the dumpster area. Of course, we also knew to have the dumpsters inside a fence and the dumpster doors had chains on them, too, so I'm guessing these folks are not as careful.

Drats, I was to late to watch the video, it's been taken down. I think I got the picture in my head though. It's good that someone helped them out and didn't get hurt themselves.

The video is still working WillaMarie. Just scan down the page a little further. This took place in New Mexico, near Ruidoso.

This looks like how trash is handled in my part of the country out in the county (read Rural trash collection). They put a dumpter at the mile corner and you drop off you trash as you need to; usually a semi-developed rural subdivision thing. Of course this is not bear country either.

As for the how they got in; look at the trees behind the dumpster. Good smells = FOOD; bear climbs trees; Bear fulls in; Bear get trapped; people put ladder in dumpster!
