Default Civil War artifacts

My cousin recently found a NC troops Civil War button in a field not far from here. They went back with metal detectors, but they were unable to find anything else. Are there any Civil War artifact collectors here? I remember finding a buckle when I was a teen, but I don't know what happened to it.

Look out for fakes, they are very popular.

They are, but I don't imagine there are too many fakes lying in fields. If I lived down south, where a lot of the big Civil War battles took place, I would definitely be out looking for stuff like that.

I don't collect but a friend of mine is a reenactor. She loves to dress in hoop skirts and bonnets and camp out at the reenaction site. They do a lot of mock battles and fire the cannons day and night. It's quite detailed and they really enjoy it. I enjoy sitting back, shooting the bull and having a cold one.

We live in Georgia and this is something we've often thought about doing, but we've never been able to afford the metal detectors to actually get out there and look. A bit off subject from the Civil War, but we have found a lot of what I think are Indian arrow heads...

I love history but I don't collect any of the stuff. I just like to collect the stories. It would be cool to find a Civil War artifact just laying around though. Scotty, I have always wanted to do the reenactments. I think it would be a blast.
