It's all George Bush's fault. He spent all that money that Clinton made on drugs.

I'm with you, Grandpa. I haven't had that explained to my satisfaction yet. I have paid tax after tax and paid more than my share sometimes. Why they can't tax the rich, I have no idea while the general public gets taxed to the roots of their hair. I was always told when I was working that social security was my "retirement plan" according to the people I worked for and according to the federal government. Now when it comes time to pay up, all of the sudden it's an "entitlement program".

Love how the government changes the rules to suit themselves and not the people.

It wouldn't make sense to tax the rich. Seeing that the rich are connected to the fed and the fed is owned by the private rich bank industry, who are basically the rich. So we couldn't tax people we owe the money to, who basically own us all. George Washington is rolling in his grave.

*shakes head* I agree with an earlier poster who said that the representatives should do this service, not for a paycheck, but out of their patriotic duty. It's amazing to me that they all get a big raise while my poor old Dad who worked all of his life to get a little retirement, has to deal with no raise in Social Security....again. They do however, manage to raise Medicare premiums every year even with no raise in Social Security. It takes everything he makes to live and I help out with money occasionally for groceries and for utility bills. I'm disgusted.

Politics is politics. There are no good answers anymore for the mess that's upon us.

Some of us won't ever get to retire. Gotta get good at camping now 'cause some of us are looking at the underside of a bridge as our likely retirement community. That way we'll be used to it when it finally hits. The big drag is going to be the newspaper 'Depends' as by that time there won't even be newspapers- we'll be stuck w/ poison ivy leaves....

Anybody watching the stock market the last couple of days? Saw one prediction that it might fall another 500-700 points today. Italy is on the brink of collapse, and that just might be all she wrote for the Eurozone.

There are many things at fault here and many faces to pin the blame to, including the standard of living we've become used to by constantly compounding debt. Not that I don't like the way we live in this country, but I feel it is time to step back and eliminate waste, put the citizens of this country first and find people willing to work without partisan bickering to find sensible solutions.

It's time to turn up the lights, clean up and pay for this party.

It won't be easy.

I will say this. I've never been more thoroughly disgusted in those that we have elected to office, and I don't care whether they have a D or an R after their name.
