Default Does anyone farm?

One of our grand kids wants to try for an FFA Degree degree and she is a great helper around our place since we try to grow some of what we eat. She is a little worried about being the only girl in the class, of course I told her to go for it. Do we have any farmers here or by chance know of any other females in this area of expertise?

I still have a farm but I have leased the operation to my nephew. His daughters have all been active in FFA, including being delegates to the national convention. Around here, plenty of girls are active in FFA. My own FFA experience was very rewarding. I learned more math, more accounting and probably as much chemistry in my FFA classes as I did in my regular classes. This, however, will only be determined by how effective the instructor is.

Hi...

I don't know how many females were in Granddaughter's college classes. Before attending, she became proficient in Hippotherapy, caring for horses, cattle and smaller-sized four legged farm animals.

She's not yet sure what she will do with her four year degree, but is thinking along of the line of Veternarian. She presently works on a horse farm, plus another part time job until school starts again.

I can't think of any reason why/if she's the only girl in the class should matter. If that is your Granddaughter's desire, why not?

That is what I say too but it seems she does better taking that advice from other people who are not related to her. Through my own life I have done "woman's work" and "men's work", to me it is all the same if it pays. I hope she goes for it even if she is out numbered that will just give her more of a drive to advance as she loves competition.
