| Ever met someone living at the campsite? We went camping one time in Brooksville Florida. The people next to us were actually living there. They said they got kicked out of her dads house. The camp site owners did finally figure it out and told them they couldn`t do that. If you pay for your site every day why not? I have often thought about this recently because we may lose our house. | ||||||||

| I am sure some people may try that, but I thought most campgrounds have a max 14 day stay. Maybe so others can go there, but if they are not full why not? I hope you don't lose your house. The economy is tough. Hopefully things will get better for you. | ||||||||

| Campsite owners want their sites to stay family friendly. They do not want people moving in there permanently. I am sure their are laws in Florida regarding this as well. | ||||||||

| Firefly, I hope things work out well for you... These definitely are tough times. I wonder if someone could learn the rules about the maximum length of stay and rotate camp sites and get around the restriction that way? I think living in a campsite is an intelligent solution to some situations. | ||||||||

Senior Member | There is a legal option ... In California, many of the camp sites have what's called "camp hosts." They are civilians who do things around the sites that the rangers don't have time to do. Mostly they clean out the firepits and sell firewood. It's a volunteer gig, but get this ... they live at the campsite for free. They last couple I met doing it were a retired couple, maybe in their 60s? They were in a camper, and doing for three months. But you might even be able to find a longer-term gig than that. |

| Firefly, I hope your problems get sorted out and that you don't lose your house. I think it is sad that people could be forced to live from campsite to campsite. | ||||||||

| I imagine it would be very hard to live like that for very long, what is enjoyable for a week or two would be a struggle id you had to live like that all the time. Firefly I hope things work out OK for you. | ||||||||

| Firefly--sending you lots of good prayers. I have heard homeless people doing this. I use to work at a homeless shelter for families. I remember a family coming in because they had been camping out in the woods in the middle of the winter. Child protective services heard about it and brought them to us. It was a pretty sad thing. On the other hand, in the summer--I see nothing wrong with it. I have even thought about living in the woods for a month or so during the nice months just to save money. | ||||||||

| Things really are getting tough, aren't they? I can't say that I've seen anyone actually at a campsite, but I have seen plenty of people who have "set up camp" on the outskirts of town where I live and have started little tent communities. It's so hard to see; my prayers always go out to those who are struggling with such basic needs as shelter. | ||||||||
