How to spend a weekend

Start off with some wood and a rented log splitter and turn it into a some firewood for the winter. These are two rows deep.

I generally put up two chords of wood for the winter. That's 8'X8'X8'.

I get a forest permit for 4 cords, and also cut another cord or two from right here in the back yard.

We are about to move into a place that has a gas fireplace and I am really not sure what to think of it. I have a feeling I will walk around it like a cat does a puppy coming into the house for the first time........'what', 'what the heck is that'....
