The line for Santa

I was at the mall yesterday and the mall was mobbed. I was surprised though that there were only a couple of kids in line to see Santa. I can remember years past when the line was all the way down the hall. Wonder if kids are just not doing it this year.

My wife and I were saying the same thing when we went to a place she used to go many years ago. She said she waited on a long line every year to get the photos of her kids. When we went past in the middle of the day on a Saturday, we saw two kids.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but a lot of private photography places are doing Christmas specials this year. A friend of mine took her kids to one and had photos with Santa taken there.

There are definitely more options when it comes to kids visiting Santa. Not the least of these is that parents have their own digital cameras, too. Our kids wrote letters to Santa, too. That's what they thought he went by.

I think that people have quit going to the mall Santas because they charge an astronomical amount for the photos. There are so many other places these days that offer more and for free too. I know the local Bass Pro Shop had a Santa's Wonderland with activities and free photos with Santa.

I never really thought about the price. I bet that is it. We have a family Christmas party on Sunday and Santa comes. All the kids get their picture with him then. It is free for us.

All of you have valid points when it comes to sitting on Santa's lap. Let me add that there are so many places that have santas now. The mall used to be exclusive but it seems there's a santa on every corner these days.

I must be the meanest parent out there, our kids never had their photos taken with Santa unless he was at their school. The lines are just insane and every time our kids saw him at a mall they would put up a battle because there were too many rowdy people.
