Default Loved the original!

How many of you remember "Red Dawn"? The 1984 movie about the invasion of the U.S. Well there's a remake of it and I think it looks pretty good.

Original was a great movie and at the time, cold war era, gave a lot of room for thought. But a remake? Gonna be hard to replace Ben Johnson even if he did just have a small part. That guy made every movie better. Swayze was excellent as well. Be a big challenge to make this go around any where near as big a hit.

Loved the original. Can't believe it came out 28 years ago.

28 years ago really! I remember the original too but I must have watched it years after it came out. Why do they insist on making remakes of great movies? They never seem to be as good.

I thought the same thing, how can you improve? Watch the trailer and you'll see! I said the same thing about one of my all time favorite movies when I was a kid, "Day The Earth Stood Still". I thought it was just going to be a basic remake, but it turned out to bring to light some of today's ecological issues, I thought it was a great remake. Klatoo Barda Nikto!

Because the people who saw them 28 years ago have kids who will pony up even more money to see the new film. It saves the time and expense of coming up with new ideas. Look at the batman and spiderman crap they keep doing over and over. Why take a chance on doing something new and inventive when you can just put the same old stuff out again and again.

I will have to say though, I REALLY enjoyed the remake of Conan the Barbarian. So different than the original. I did Netflix it though, so it didn't cost me much.

I loved the original and have it on dvd. I probably watch it 2 or 3 times a year, I have several favorites that I watch several times a year. The new one looks like it will be pretty good, according to the trailer but if they want to use the same storylines they could at least change the titles.

That's pretty much what they did in "Act of Valor" , it a modern remake of the "Navy SEALS' with Charlie Sheen. Which I think they did a great job in remaking overall.

We actually just watched Red Dawn for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was really good. I will have to check out the new one. I actually have Act of Valor queued up to watch when the kids go to bed tonight.
