Default Oh my the birds!

I have always loved birds but I could never have one as a pet, too darn loud in the mornings and I love my sleep. I do still enjoy watching them though and its one thing I can do for hours on a camping trip. Anyone catch the Discovery show for Winged Planet?

We used to have lots of birds. We really liked chickens and turkeys running around. Now we are retired, grandma wants them back but I want to sit by the fire in the winter. My son-in-laws can raise them and share the goodies with us for a change.

I don't watch that show. I don't like birds though! They kind of freak me out. They seem like they are always ready to dive bomb you when you are outside. I would never own a bird!

Hi...

No, I haven't yet seen the show, but it sure looks interesting. I like most all birds, as long as they're smaller than I am...!! (cassawary, for example of a LARGE, dangerous bird).

Songbirds, game birds, pet birds...like 'em all...and feed lots of them

Birds are so diverse.I like seeing them when I'm out and about. I really like when I see one that I have never seen before. My favorite to see is the bald eagle, especially when I can watch them from a canoe or kayak.

I watched the first one. Very good show but I wish they'd show a little more into which shots were actually from the "birdcams". But I haven't watched the entire show to the end, so maybe it's in the very end of the program.

I haven't seen the show, but I love birds. We have a big bird feeder right outside our window and it is always interesting to see the different types of birds that show up to eat.

I haven't seen the show. I like birds, but I don't want to own any. I could make an exception for chickens since I could get eggs, but that's about it.

Hi...

Has anyone seen the video that made the rounds a short while ago...where a gull flew off with someone's video recorder...and when it was safely retrieved...the whole flight was recorded?

Also, a few times recently I've seen videos of the only Bald Eagle ever trained to fly around stadiums, etc., especially when the National Anthem was played. What a magnificent sight that is...!!

Then it would always fly back to its handler.

Homing pigeons (the perfect wedding gift!) fitted with cameras to try to see how they always managed to find their way home were found to follow roads much of the time...!!

Totally of the subject, sorry to hijack the thread Carmen but just have to tell this bird story here. This appeared in Golf Magazine back in the late 80's about strange golf shots. It seems, in a small African Country, a guy destroyed the entire national Air Force with a golf shot. At a course adjacent to the Royal Airport, a guy teed off. His ball sailed high into the air, hitting a seagull. The seagull tumbled to earth, only to be sucked into the air intake of one of the 4 national fighter jets that was in the process of taking off. This caused the turbine to go out of balance, causing the jet to careen sideways and slam into the remaining 3 Royal Air Force jets parked along the runway. All 4 planes were destroyed. Just recounting an article in Golf Magazine. I have no idea if it really happened.
