Default Phone went in the toilet

Argh! My cell phone fell off my belt clip last week and fell in the toilet. I managed to rescue it and dried it out in a bowl of rice. It works but occasionally the sound will cut out so I can't hear the person on the other end. What a pain. I am due for an upgrade in March but I am not sure it will last that long before I beat it to death.

That is pretty frustrating. I will never forget the night I was traveling alone late at night and stopped in one of those roadside rest stops. I dropped my car keys in the toilet. There was absolutely nothing around for me to do except put my hand in there to fish them out. No plastic bags were around. I was scared. As soon as I got to an all-night store, I went in and bought a bottle of Clorox. I know I must have scrubbed the skin off my hands.

I work on electronic devices all the time and this might not work since you have already have turned it on. I dropped mine in a river. Got a bottle of EverClear and soaked the phone in the alcohol. This dissipates the water in the phone and used additional EverClear to rinse the phone with to remove mud from the circuit board. Then I let the phone set for three days before powering it up. Got lucky and used that phone for 4 or 5 months till an upgrade.

I wish I knew how many phones hoped off my belt or outa my shirt pocket into the Bilge or over board or down the 13 steps from the wheel house to the galley floor. I had a run of bad luck awhile back so bad ATT canceled my insurance saying I was too risky. I finally got me a Samsung Rugby phone. It's just a lil no frills flip phone but very well made. This thing has bounced offn steal decks tumbled down steal stairs and still going strong. It has out lived 2 batteries, and I cant sem to loose it. I think bout getting a smart phone sometimes but sure as I did it would imediately commit suicide by jumping over board. I left one on the hood of the suv one time. We found it by the stopsign 2 days later. Or at least I think we did, cause it was barely recognizable. Laying down under da jeeep one day it rang i answereed hung up then put it on a cross member under the jeep. forgot about it and went for a ride in the woods behind the levee. Never did find that one

Hi...

Those cell phone holders that clip on to your belt were regularly falling off. Then I went to the kind of holder that had a 'real' belt loop, and that solved the problem.

Now, I have one of those tiny phones, and just keep it buttoned up in my shirt pocket. Not a smart phone, just a plain one. I rarely turn it on, so its no inconvenience. (Don't run around with it in my hand like today's 'moderns').

If the phone was powered up when it fell into the toilet then drying it out will only prevent more damage than when the water hit it. And most warranties won't cover water damage. There is a dessicant pack in the phone that tattles on you when you try to get a replacement.

I regret having ever gotten myself a cell phone. That phone has brought more **** into my life than the toilet ever could.
