I was wondering if anyone incorporates photography into their camping or hiking trips? If so, what types of photos do you like to take (sunsets, mushrooms, trees, etc.) and what type of camera do you use?

I have a Nikon and like to take photos of waterfalls and rock formations.

I have a Canon Digital Rebel and I love using it. I like for people to be in my photographs, so I'm always aware of the background and children, pets, colorful clothing against natural settings. I love taking photographs with boats in them.

I have a Canon Powershot. It's a fairly low-end camera, but I've really gotten into digital photography in the past couple of years. My photos are of deer, sunsets, and outdoor beauty in general. So far, I have a lot more photos of animals than I do of people.

Hi...

I always have a conventional (as in takes film) camera in my UTE. I sometimes also carry my new digital camera...which I know little about...!!

I've taken lots of pics over the years, but only a fraction of what I wished I had taken.

Well, maybe you can teach an old dog new tricks...if I can remember to take more photos as time goes by, eh?

NOTE:

"Pathfinder", who is now posting on this forum, is NOT Pathfinder1, which is me...!!

I carry a camera and take lots of pics. Basically, if a sight appeals, I take a pic. But after seeing those places in person and looking at my pictures, I am not a photographer.

Guns; my right to own one is what protects your right to tell me I can't.

Don't judge me because I sin differently than you

I always take a camera out with us when we go, you never know what you might stumble across. I have nothing fancy until I learn what I am doing but I love being behind the camera instead of in front of it.

I don't always take a camera with me but I do always have my cell phone. I take many pictures with that and then send them to my computer. Some of my best shots were taken from my phone.

Aren't cell phone cameras great!? I don't usually use mine when I'm hiking or camping, but I've taken quite a few imprompt shots of my animals or things I have seen when I'm out and about during the day. Never again do I have to say, "if only I had brought my camera."

Me too. Some of my best shots were from my cell phone. I especially like sunsets. I email them to myself and use them as a background on my computer. It gives me a moment of nostalgia wishing I was there.

Yes, I've always loved having pictures and photo albums to remember a trip by. I upgraded to an SLR about 2 years ago. I love scenery shots and wildlife, as well as trying to capture night scenes. Haven't been able to capture star trails yet, but am working towards it! (Not very dark where I live in the Chicago suburbs)
