Default Re-key the house

I never realized how much money you can spend redoing all of the locks for a house, we only have three doors and spent a ton of money this weekend on them. Has anyone used the re-keyable ones before? They say you can re-key for anyone like a house guest or pet sitter. They are news to me, hope they work or they are going back ASAP!

We replaced the locks and deadbolts here when we moved in and we keyed all of ours the same. That way you only have to use one key no matter what door you try to get in. We even did it for our laundry room because it's outside. Not sure who wants to steal laundry though!

Our doors are all keyed the same as well. When one knob gave it up, I bought another and keyed it the same as the deadbolt and the other doors. Yes, it is a simple procedure if you want to rekey one door while you are gone, then rekey it back when you return. But if you trust someone in your house while you are gone, you may as well just trust them when you return and not mess with changing a lock.

I do the same thing. Although this house I only have two doors with keys. The front door has and expensive setup. Mortise I believe it is called. So I just had the cylinder rekeyed. The other door I installed a mechanical button lock, which has no key. It uses buttons.

I'm loosing keys more often than I would like to. In those cases I'm immediately re-keying the doors. It's a hassle but smaller one than having your place robbed.

I hate when this happens. I have no idea why these locks are so expensive. I figure they need to have a price to be adequate but c'mon it is ridiculous.

Hi...

Both doors can be exited from the inside without using the key or buttons, right?

I just hate the idea of having a ton of keys on the ring to start with. We spent a ton of money and we did this years ago when we rented the house (but since then we bought it). The other brand was Defiant and I swear they are just about useless, this time around we went with another brand so I hope this works better.

Yup. My back doors are sliders, so no locks on them. The wife does want to change them out to french doors, but no plans for that soon.

I had three doors keyed the same. It cost less than 30$. I took all the cylinders down to Lowes and let them do it. You could call a locksmith, and have them come to your house, but youre going to pay through the nose.
