Default State Fair

It was such a beautiful day today Peg and I jumped in the suv and headed up to the Baton Rouge State Fair. We had a ball walking the midway and riding a few rides. I won her a teddy bear throwing darts.IMG_1584 - Copy.jpg WE had stuff on a stick for lunch and each a smoked turkey leg for supper. No body more surprised than me but our Lemon jelly won first place in the jelly makin contest. So we came home with a genuine state fair ribbon and enough prize mony to cut the cost of the trip in half. All in all a truely wonderful day.IMG_1619.jpg

Sounds like you had a great day. I love State fairs too. I would have skipped the turkey leg though. I love fair food - all the bad for you kind. Congrats on your ribbon and win too.

Thanks yall, after all the walking and standing I finally lost my sea legs We ended listening to some exellent music and didn't get home till after dark. I was asleep by 10 pm and am happy to report I am no longer on boat time. I was able to sleep to 8 am, rather than hop outa bed around 5.No one happier about that than Peg.

The State Fair is one of the best things about this time of year. Sometimes it's a bit rainy and cold, but usually you can get one or two perfect fair days.

Cappy, if your state fair is anything like our state fair, I would love to go. Every church and service organization in Eastern Idaho has a food booth set up. They all try to develop their own "unique" item along with a full menu of everything else. State fair here is a guaranteed 8 lb gain on the old bathroom scales the next few days.

I could only imagine the wonderful cajun food available at your fair. I'm gaining weight just thinking about it. Even the hamburgers tasted better down there last spring.

I don't think we even have a state fair anymore. I am going to have to check. The old fairgrounds turned into a movie studio, which in turn became an antique mart.
