| One thing I have learned, there are many ways to do things successfully. There is absolutely no reason for a person who prefers one method to criticize another method.
Whether it is rolling up in a blanket, using a tent, a tarp, or a hammock is personal preference and/or locality required. There are many ways to make water safe and there are many ways to cook dinner. I have my ways, they work for me in my locality, and I will share my insights with any who listen.
I hike with a lot of different people. Those friends of mine that come west have found they prefer different methods than what they use in the east. If I go east to hike with them, I will do just as they did with me. I will ask them which is best back there and change my ways to fit their paths. Hike your own hike (HYOH) is oft repeated in these forums and that is what makes this such a great place for discussion.
I make no bones about being opinionated but only about things in my corner of the world. That is because I have been studying this little corner for 60 plus years and have seen many things that were good elsewhere that were a big fail here. I have been tweeking my methods since I was a tad following my father and big brothers. Thanks to technology, my pack gets lighter as I get older. And the tweeking continues.
Thanks Y'all for putting up with me. And yes Jason, that "keyboard Warrior" thing is classic. Thanks for a good chuckle.
Thinking that guns kill people is like thinking pencils misspell words
