| They got it all wrong! They got it all wrong! Don't put down the animal for being a Pit Bull, put down the idiots who train them to fight. It's not the animals fault! Pit Bulls are not my favorite breed of dog, they don't really appeal to me. But I don't see the reasoning to destroy them. I have no concern, care or respect for those who abuse animals. They rate right up there with wife beaters and child molesters. Since this is a family forum, I'll end here before I say something I shouldn't. | Pit bulls are not my favorite by a long shot but this was all wrong from the gitgo. This dog had done nothing wrong to start with. And I agree, muzzle or put down the owner if any dog turns agressive. And by agressive I dont' mean defensive protecting his/her turf.

| Sadly it is easier to take out our problems on the easy target then the root of the problem. There was a ad I think floating around a while back showing a family in either the late 1800s or early 1900s showing a family with a pitbull and saying no other dog would do, or something to that extent.
I do not like pit bulls, not my dog bread, but thanks to idiots, they have gotten a bad name.

| I agree 100% Pluse some with oldsarge. Animal abusers rate right next to women beaters, child molesters, and rapists. This should have never gone on this long and the dog should not have been put down. There were too many alternatives in this case. Also while pit bulls are targeted more so than others there are other breeds that get a bad reputation because they were originally trained to be aggressive. Fact is I'm more careful around little dogs than I am around those so called aggresive breeds.

Hi...
You've got a good point there, oldsarge...!! Talk about being arbitrary.

| I'm on board with the problem being more often bad owners than bad animals. But let's not forget that just like there are bad people there are bad animals. Of all breeds. It is just as possible for a dog to be a violent ******* as it is for a person.
I wouldn't put bad owners on the same level as child molestors, though. Child molestors deserve a special place in Hell all of their own.

| Every time I read about a pit bull, I think of that adorable puppy The Little Rascals had. Was his name Petey? He had that spot on his eye and well loved all the kids. How can one put down such a sweetie?

That dog hated me for whatever reason. The owner never kept it in the yard, and the dog would chase me on my bike. One day he caught me right on the calf.
