Looks like surgery is cancelled until after the first of the year. I'm opting for another cortisone shot and four weeks of therapy, will see how it plays out. I've put it off for way to many years and it's just gotten worse. Trying to avoid the loss of work. Thanks all the same!
Hi...
Hope it all works out for ya, oldsarge.

We are just buying time with some of the symptomatic relief options, but the reality is that we should be doing everything to be the healthiest that we can be while our insurance companies will still cover us. The times are changing...and we might need to be the strongest that we can possibly imagine being in the not to distant future. Just a thought for the baby boomers!
Oh, on the Christmas list...Dear Santa: I really could use another two years of time!

| How right you are Judy Ann. I'll give this more thought.

| Well, Sarge, I was just making a joke out of your Christmas list. And I'm sure I don't have to tell you how I really feel about your problem.
There have been some very interesting wishes on this string; some very thoughtful. Me, I just want a good meal and then maybe get laid.

It started with a slight tear in both shoulders and I have been adjusting my workouts and getting cortisone shots to manage it throughout the years. The past two years I have really laid off on any workouts and no longer train in martial arts. But for some reason the left shoulder started acting up real bad about 4 months ago. I guess it's time to make a decision here. It bites getting older.
Wish you all the best on your Christmas wish list!

Wish you all the best on your Christmas wish list! | Yeah, but it beats the alternative. I'm hanging in pretty decent shape so far, but my wife is accumulating multiple health problems... no fun for her for sure!
Oh, yeah, my business partner had rotator cuff surgery. He said the surgery itslef wasn't too bad (painful, but not bad) but the rehab was tough. He still has trouble getting his arm too far above his shoulder at certain angles.

| We're looking at snow ski equipment right now. We're not totally committed, but the kids have been wanting to learn, and they're at a good age for it.

| Pathfinder,
If you need a semi-auto to keep your neighbors in line, you should move.
Thanksgiving is the greatest American holiday in my opinion. Family, friends and food. Even newcomers to this country quickly get the idea. Thanks, gratitude, and forgiveness.
Christmas on the other hand, the Pagan rituals to welcome back the sun, morphed into Christians beliefs has lost all context for most people. I like to sing around Christmas, go to a show, and give gifts to kids and people that are not very fortunate. I want for nothing.

| I prefer the Pagan rituals... At least i wouldn't have to go to the mall. The hypocrisy of the season maddens me. People talk about "giving the kids a good Christmas" when really they mean spending more than they can afford. They talk about it being all about Jesus while in the line at two a.m. At Target waiting to beat up the next guy for a half price TV.
I think it's time to support "buynothingchristmas"... But my wife won't let me, she wants an iMac.

| First of all Sarge, good luck on your rotator cuff and the surgery.
We don't observe Christmas like the masses do as we enjoy a more Spartan lifestlye. The godless spending has never been a part of our existence as Christmas has become in the media. We usually take a trip into the desert and cook some good food and enjoy the day with each other. We do donate money for wood stoves and their installation to an organization who sees that older Navajo women have heat and a way to make hot soup and drinks in the hogan. Food baskets are a part of that. The older neighbor woman next door is a part of what we do too but we work with her year round when we are in town.
In this decayed hole among the mountains
In the faint moonlight, the grass is singing
Over the tumbled graves
