Who uses Yellow Pages???

How many folks here still use yellow pages or a paper phone book??
Dang phone company wants $50 a month for a YP ad.
Put that in 13 local towns in our area and the question becomes "Is it worth it"?
When looking for a local business where do you look first??

I use the yellow pages. That thin paper makes for good fire starters.

Phone books are great for testing the sharpness of your knife.

We use yellow pages a lot....the on line version. We compile a list off the yellow pages on line then narrow it down using BBB, angie's list, consumer reports etc.

Exactly! I can't wait for a new one each year.
And what's a "local business"? Is that one that's in the state, so I have to pay sales tax when I order online?

I just use google for looking up stuff.

While we do not use the phone book as much as we used to, we do still use it a fair amount of time. White and Yellow pages.

I never met a dog I didn't like. You may not like GUNS, and choose not to own one. You may not like GOD, and choose to exclude him. However, if some one breaks into your home the first two things you will do are, 1) Call someone with a GUN. and 2) PRAY they get there in time.

I do use the phone book for fire starter, but only the old one. It is still an information source and I'm not stupid enough to burn all my bridges.

Coz, does the 50$ include an on line add for their digitized version too? If so may be worth considering and heck even when ripping a page out in te out house folks stop to read it sometimes

I use Google first, but I do sometimes still use the phonebook. If you decide to do it, put something in there to track exactly what you're getting from the ad. One way to do this would be to put a special number in the ad that is only used in that ad. There are companies where you can get the 800 number that will track how many times it's used.
