Alright, I'm taking notes. I really love history and we've been to Colonial Williamsburg. I would love to go again and see it all during a quieter time. One of our favorite places is Shakertown in Kentucky. I haven't had the chance to stay there yet, but I am going to try to get things together for a good week for my wife. She's always wanted to stay there and I think this would be a good present.

It might surprise some people to know that probably as many Indian wars were fought in the East as were fought in the West...!!

Maybe sometime the the film makers will start realizing that.
It should be noted that Joseph Brandt was not only a Mohawk war chief but he was also a Captain in the British army. He was traveling that day with 60 Iroquious that day and 27 British Tories. The militia under Comanders John Hathorn and Benjamin Tusten had been hastily assembled and included 120 militia men. The United States lost48 men that dayand 1 man was captured The Brits lost 3 men thatday and 10 men were wounded.

Default Historic sites

Chuck and I love to stop along the way and check out Historical sites. We recently went down to Seaside Oregon and visited Fort Stevens, Fort Clatsop, The Clatsop Pioneer Cemetary, some of the grave markers were dated back to 1842, and we stopped at the Centennial Cemetary, (military) outside of Fort Stevens. Most of the graves were dated from 1850 on up as well there too. I know that sounds morbid kind of going through old cemetaries.

Ladymtn,
I have some trade beads that were given to my grandfather (of Kalama) in 1906. They are in a little box with a hand written inscription that the beads were from Fort Clatsop. It is a great place to visit.
