Default It was the Smokey Mountains this weekend.

Great weekend. Lots of fall colors elevation change, and laughs. Climbed Mt. Leconte and what a day that was 6.5 miles up hill never leveled off. ANy way here are the photos.

Two structures there not sure what one you mean but assuming it was Dinning Hall at Mt. Leconte. There are cabins up there that you hike to. No way up rather than to hike. There were built near the summit and have no electricity. One can stay there but you have to book a year in advanced. All supplies are brought up by pack animals. Here is some info on the Lodge.

Leconte Lodge

The other less impressive structure was a shelter on the AT. Ice Spring Shelter if I remember the name correctly.

Don't be fooled by the lodge at the top. The hike we did was 6.7 miles and almost 4000 feet of elevation gain when you figure on the summit and Bushy Mountain.

Awsome trip and totally breathtaking views! You look like you had a wonderful time. It's beautiful down there isn't it. I love going and look forward to going more and more. I like going over into Cherokee and visiting the rez. The museum of the Cherokee is very informative and is very informative. I would live down there if I could.

Beautiful scenery Indiana. Looks like a great hike.

The Smokey Mountains are one of my favorite places on earth. I love going to Cade's Cove and taking a picnic. Almost always there are animals that come right out into the open. It's one of the places on earth I can just imagine what it was like to live there all those years ago.

Good scenery. I would love to go down there. I've heard a lot of nice things about the Smokys and I fully intend to get down there some day. I hear the people are very friendly too.

Amazing the difference a week and a hurricane can make.

High On LeConte - Daily Posts

17 Inches of snow and 4 foot drifts and still falling. 6 to 8 inches at Grotto Falls at 3700 feet elevation.
