Default 10 foods to take

I just read an article that listed the 10 foods you had to bring with you camping. I was pretty surprised as we don’t bring many at all. Here they are: Dried fruit, Protein Bars, GORP (trail mix), powdered or evaporated milk, pesto sauce, oil/butter, sugar free drink mix, precooked sausage, cheese sticks and marshmallows. Heck I don’t even eat half of that stuff. How many do you always bring out of the list?

I take dried fruit. I dry it myself. I take jerky, not protein bars. Those things are made with chemicals I don't agree with in any way. Trail mix I also make myself. Milk is for babies. When you grow up, you get to drink beer. Pesto? You're kidding? I use butter. My sugar free drink is called water. My precooked sausage is the local fauna. Cheese sticks? I like a little Parmesan or Romano on some of my food dishes. Marshmallows? Is this list for kids? Why don't you just bring sugared drinks? It would eliminate one of the things you have to carry.

I only have half, I guess thats a test I am failing. I am not too fond of some of the stuff though so I wonder what I could sub out for it (the fruits and milk mainly).

your not failing......anyone who is out there having fun and enjoying the Outdoors is a winner......I substitute marshmallows for other sugar related items and the butter and oil is in other ingredients anhoo so as long as you are eating and have energy to get out there.

I would probably bring about four of those. Who uses pesto sauce when they are out hiking or trying to survive. That doesn't even make sense. The jerky I would bring and I'm with Dinosaur on the water. Someone had too much time on their hands.
