Default Best cookware for camping

What do you like to use when you go camping? I use an old set of pots and pans (Teflon). I'm thinking of getting some cast iron pots and pans for camping.

What do you use? Do you have a set for camping and some for the house?

With the exception of weight, you cannot beat cast iron cookware. I love the stuff, and have been using it at home a lot. Unless you have health problems of too much iron, it helps you get more iron in your system, or so they say.

If weight is an issue, I just grab some old pans.

I picked up a BIG stainless steel skillet with the thick bottom in it. What I don't grille I cook in this pan and it works great.

Cast iron or heavy stainless is the best, in my opinion. I would be careful using nonstick on a campfire. I'm not sure the intense heat is good for that surface.

The one piece of cookware that I always take with me is a dutch oven. You can't beat the flexibility of these things. The only drawback is the weight since they are cast iron, but otherwise, they're great.

I second the cast iron dutch oven. We don't hike in. The car is close by.

We have a matchless single burner stove that is used for cooking food on pans or non-stick camp griddle to grill foods. It is lightweight, equipped inside a Nylon carry bag and does not need a Propane cylinder.

I third the cast iron dutch oven. I have one I've had for years and it just keeps on going and going LOL. Seriously though, I can't say enough for the cast iron's ability to cook a variety of food. The cast iron evenly heats and you can't beat it for durability. The draw back of heaviness is the only thing but I would rather have something I can take with me time and again than have something that I have to replace again and again.
