Default Breakfast Foil Packs

You always see lunch and dinner foil pack recipes for camping, but I happened across one for breakfast! I haven't tried them yet, but I thought some of you guys might like them.

1 frozen hash brown patty
2 eggs, scrambled, uncooked
2 frozen sausage patties
spices and seasonings of your choice
Cheese (optional)

Crimp the sides of your sheet of foil so that the eggs won’t go anywhere when you add them. First place your hash brown patty on the foil. Then place the eggs on top of the hash brown patty. Then place the sausage patties on top. Season with spices and condiments and wrap up in a tent pack.

Place on hot coals and cook for 15 minutes. Add the cheese when it’s done cooking.

Would be something to try for the first morning of a camping trip but that's probably it. Unless you're traveling in a RV, I don't think the potato and sausage patties would remain frozen past the first day.

I am thinking that this might be really good with peppers and onions in it, and then maybe serve it with a side of biscuits and gravy.

Yum! This is the first time I have seen one for breakfast food. I wonder if you could just use diced potatoes and get the same results?

Frozen hash browns remind me of Mc D's breakfasts. Yuck. But the whole idea sounds like a winner. I'll try it with the diced taters.

I have tried the fresh potatoes and they turn black, so I stick to the frozen kind. Hash browns or tater tots on a bed of Valida onion are what I use. I would grill the sausage links first, bacon needs to be cooked first too. I do the potatoes, onion sausage and Canadian bacon my daughter loves this.

I would make the up ahead of time along with some for lunch and dinner. I would keep them all in the freezer then toss them in the cooler and go.

They do stat to thaw out over a couple of days but as long as they are kept cold they are still good.

I have made large egg inside out omelets for supper a few times. I really liked them. You take hash browns, onions and green peppers. Fry that up in a bit of olive oil, add whatever else you want and turn down the heat a bit. I use tomato, chopped pimentos and some type of meat, usually ham when I have it. Then whip up some eggs until they are well scrambled, the amount depends upon how much stuff you have. Turn the heat down a bit more and add all of the eggs to the skillet. Let the egg cook until down. Serve with toast and you've got one fine meal.

We have setup eggs before but never used sausage and looking back on it I can not think of any reason why we skipped it before. I guess sometimes we just get into patterns of how we cook when we are enjoying the outdoors and we sometimes hate change.
