Default Campfire Pie

Is there such a thing as campfire pie? My husband argues that when he was a boy scout they used to make campfire pies. I don't see how it would work, so I thought I would ask here.

When I go backpacking and want to throw a surprise at others after dinner I have developed a throw together dump cobbler I can bake with a pan, aluminum foil, simmer low with a stove... cake mix, brown sugar, dried fruit of your choice and well it's my secret recipe...you will have to backpack with me to try it. Nobody has complained and almost all want seconds...

Well I'll be. I guess I will be eating supper with a side of crow tonight. I figured it was something he had made up. I won't live this down for a while.

That recipe sounds really good too.

We do the same for our boys we use clamshell pie irons available at camping supply or WalMart. You can make many treats we even use them to do grilled cheese or pizza pies you can make up your own. Just remember use them in coals not in direct fire or you will have a bad meal and not use them again it takes a little practice.
