Default Lighters?

This may fall under different category but you still need a way to start a fire to cook all those dandy things. What lighter do you put your trust in? I use regular Mini/Maxi BIC lighters.

I like the mini bics. One is always in my pocket, one is always in my cups with the fuel cannister and multi-tool and one is always in my pack along with a book of waterproof matches in a ziplock. Yep, never leave without 3 of the little fellers.

Hi...

Bic is also my favorite...even though they may not be manufactured in the US. And DON'T use one of those 'flat' lighters with a see-through fuel container. I've had them FAIL in as little as six flicks of the spark wheel...!!

Bic all the way. No other option in my mind either. I normally carry one in my pocket, one with stove, two in a dry bag in my pack.

Now that we 'rv'instead of camp acording to some folks I favor those bic bbq type long lighters, they last forever and I have several scattered around in the camper, jeep truck, boat, tackle box. Back in my younger backpackin days I used one of those permanant matches as my go to.

wooden matches to lite the fire , stove and lanterns. carry a zippo in the pocket and a few bics in the pack for emergency or to give to unprepared campers .

I would not trust Zippo lighter for expeditions because the fuel evaporates quickly. Although it can burn other fuels when Zippo fuel it's not available.

BICs are great because there is no fuss on fueling them up or taking care of them. When they are out of fuel just toss them out.
