Default Meal time planning

Do you and your family plan meal times when you camp? I keep reading all these tips to be sure to pre-plan your meals and the meal times too. We don’t do this ever. I camp with a lot of other people and we just start cooking whenever we feel like it. The kids always check in every few hours.

I plan what we are going to eat, but not when we prep it. I plan it so I know what I need to take, with a few extras, just in case we run into trouble.

You kind of have to plan it, unless you are hunting for it. If you don't plan it, how will you know that you are carrying enough?

We have a rough idea of what we plan on but there are always surprises that happen and for the most part we deal with them pretty good. The only time we did have an issue is accidentally running out of gas once on our way back.

We like to be organized, so we generally plan out meals when we go camping. Whether it's cooking the fish we catch, or preparing the food we bring from home, we like to establish a schedule. There's a time for everything, they say, including a time for cooking. Building up an appetite is part of spending time in nature.

It is sometimes the hardest thing to try and plan anything for our gang, and there are times I am amazed we can get through a trip alone not counting the food stuff or the activities. We do attempt to at least take healthy stuff not the junk food (anymore).

We plan most meals. I bought a Vacuum sealer several years ago my wife thought I was crazy but now she loves it. We often cook the meals and vacuum seal them. Some you have to freeze before sealing others after. It helps keep the cooler cold and if you plan right they will be thawed when your ready to heat them.
