Default Meatballs

I’ve got a funny story, last night my daughter thought it would be fun to try to roast a meatball on her stick over the campfire. Well the fire was good and hot so she tried it. The darn thing fell off the stick before it was cooked all the way through! It was pretty funny. It’s a good thing we had a crock-pot full of them in the house. Hey it’s cool to try new things.

I agree, you never know when you're going to discover an awesome recipe. Next time try that but just with aluminum foil, maybe she'll have more luck.

Your daughter had the right idea, just the wrong equipment. Put the meatballs on a grill rack covered with foil. Then punch a bunch of holes in the foil so the smoke will come through. Quick roast the meatballs until they are slightly crusted on the outside. Absolutely delicious.

And to your daughter I say: BRAVO!

I think foil would take the fun out of it her... but not for the rest of us to eat. I will try it again with the foil. She likes to try new things on her skewer and sticks. Tonight we are roasting plain on hot dogs!

When I was in Thailand I saw them roasting meatballs, fishballs, and vegetarian balls but I think they contained more flour than meat. Way to go for your daughter. Many of our favorite foods today were discovered serendipitously.

Maybe if you wrapped the meatball with a strip of bacon, it would hold long enough to get firm. Hmmmm...

Sounds yummy! You do indeed learn something new each day, I wish we could have made it out this past weekend but it rained us out. Lucky for us we had not packed up the truck before the rain hit.

Dinosaur that sounds absolutely delicious to me! I will definitely try that next time we get the campfire going. I love meatballs in the crockpot too!

Sounds like the start of a chef in training. Tell her not to stop trying to experiment, I agree with MtMakiling about things being discovered by accident. There are a lot of foods we wouldn't have if they hadn't made mistakes. Heck, there are a lot of non-foods we wouldn't have if it weren't accidental.
