Small camp stove

What is the best type of small camp stove. I need something portable that I can carry in my pack. I have only ever dealt with the huge full size ones.

Thanks, as usual Grandpa is a wealth of knowledge , I appreciate that. Are there any of that are there any you would recommend over others? Or should I just start small and build up from there?

I've been using MSR's pocket rocket for about 10 years. But my backpacking cooking consists of boiling water. Despite naysayers, I've used it at 14,000 ft and in temps below 10 degrees f.

I prefer an alcohol stove. It is cheap, light and does the job. Alcohol sells for about 50 cents a bottle everywhere. It is light and you can see exactly how much you have left at a glance. They are available mostly as military surplus and can be found at cheaperthandirt.com, sportsmansguide.com and many other sites.

SG Rock has Alcahol stoves a plenty. I have made many Pepsi can stoves.

I like this one "Mini Camping stove Gas-Powered Portable Picnic stove" or the Century Single-Burner Stove from Walmart. They are very light to carry and you can even put them in your pocket.

Thanks for the information. I never thought of building my own stove, there were lots of resources and most do not seem overly difficult. I need to get to work!

They are small and rugged.
