| Strangest thing you ate What is the strangest thing you have eaten while camping? A few people make a mean stew in aluminum foil, it tastes so much better than doing it at home, what about you?

| MRE's by far... the original kind, not the new kind. One of the common ingredients used to be Soylent Green!

| I kind of like the new MRE's myself, it's got that unique alpolicious flavor! Not as good as the old C-ration though, my favorite was the beef slices and potato chunks soaked in Tobasco sauce. But I'd have to say the strangest thing I've ever eaten was a large moth, after that is was a really tastey grub from Brasil, tasted just like coconut!

| Khai-Luke (or Pong-te-kon depending who you ask) while camping in Laos and Cambodia with some friends.
It is a delacasey in that neck of the woods.
MREs are really good. Vegatable minicote is awesome IMO.

There used to be a delicious cracker and hunk of chocolate that I loved! They even had a couple of Lucky Strike cigarettes thrown in! As far as eating strange foods in the wilderness, though, I can't say that I have eaten anything out of the ordinary - I am sure we have all ingested a flying gnat or two, right?

| I have had Military rations, my best friend's father used to get them from work when we were kids. This was about 20 years ago and they were more to be desired, but if you are hungry, you will eat anything.

| oldsarge, I'm glad you didn't say chicken! ;-).....
hikinboot, I love to cook so you might think this a little strange for a first night meal: Sesame and pepper crusted tuna, grilled rare, sliced thin, with a touch of wasabi mustard and a packet of soy sauce and grilled zucchini. If it is a quick overnighter, a minibottle of single malt scotch (weighs less than wine). I sleep like a baby!

hikinboot, I'm just a messin' with oldsarge and I don't mean to disrespect your lead here. Please forgive me. As my Dad would say, "Spam will not be allowed in this house." Just old days gone by.
