Default Wood types

What is your favorite type of wood to cook with? I usually use Hickory but I want to try something new next time. Any suggestions on what I should use? I'm going to cook steaks.

My brother uses oak a lot, and since I started cooking and the smoker there, I tend to use oak a lot too. I do have some citrus waiting on some fish to cook. I do use chips a lot, apple, maple, and other popular chips. The best chips I have used where old whiskey barrels shredded up.
