| Camp-Tek Microburst Inflator I might have to pick up one of these! Has anyone used this little device for inflating their backpacking pad? http://www.backpackgeartest.org/reviews....strella

| It sounds like a winner Judy. The tester said he broke the first one but the new one has lasted well with hard use. Weight seems good and length of battery life sounded okay as well. Thanks for the post. I may have to add this to my Christmas list. The moisture thing in my air core has been a worry for me as well.

| That looks much better than hyperventilating and blowing in moisture into your insulated pad at the same time. Very good idea. My Exped Synmat has a built in pump, the first kind of pump I have ever had for a mattress. I've used it for several years now and like it a bunch. You do have to hand pump it but it doesn't take very long to get it inflated and we have the larger DLX 9 pads.

| Sounds really interesting! Good review, too. I'll have to look into one before spring.

| Does anyone here test gear? It sounds like a great way to try out new toys before they hit the market and help out the US backpacking cottage gear industry. I'm thinking it could be fun and a lot less expensive than a new tent or stove every few....;-). I would be happy to try out some of the new wood burning stoves, a tricycle with a little trailer, SPF 50 moisture wicking gear that repels Mosquitos and no seeums that keeps one cool in the humid South. Could one hope for boots that fit without needing to break them in more than 50 miles before a trip?
I think all of our favorite hobbies should have testers from the over 55 crowd...just saying!

| Ask the fridge about that, Judy. I applied to test for BP but they didn't want me...sniff. I thought I would make a good over the hill tester, but they didn't.

After the ankle situation last summer, I went from trail runners to more supportive Lowa Renegade LL boots, the LL meaning Leather Lined instead of GTX. I have used New Balance Pressure Relief insoles for many years now with all of my footwear and did the same with these new boots. They never gave me any problems, totally broke in after ten miles and are staying very stable over time. My trail runners would become unstable after 300 to 400 miles. I am using thick Trekking, heavy cushion Smartwool socks now too.
I have never gotten a hot spot or a blister with the new boots even with a heavy pack. The trail runners were fine with a medium weight pack but with a heavy backpack I would get a blister on the first day of backpacking and fight them for the rest of the trip.
The reason I stay away from Gortex liners is they make my feet sweat more and then cause blisters.
I don't know if they would fit you or if they would perform like they do for me but you could become a "tester". LOL

I have never read one of his reviews, have you?
