Recreational Equipment, Inc. This company, REI, has a store near where I live. I like the ideas they they have about preserving the integrity of the places we spend time in when out in nature, but sometimes I feel I need to keep my mouth shut in there when it comes to my hunting and fishing excursions. The stuff they have is often very expensive, too, so in the end I don't frequent the store often. Does anyone here shop with them at all?

Been a member since 1981. I buy most of my gear at REI, Mt Gear.com, Campmor.com, Backcountrygear.com, MooseJaw.com, or from the vender themselves. I frequent all gear shops looking for the best price. I live to Backpack and I live well.......... If you can read this, Thank a Teacher! If you are reading it in English, Thank a Veteran!

I've been with REI since 1968 - some good deals, some not. Just gotta shop around - Cabella's, NRS, Piragus, Seda, Old Town, LL Bean, Moosejaw, Feathered Friends, etc, etc....

Gander Mountian and Bass Pro are fine for some things but not the greatest selcion for backpacking. They are greared to hunting and fishing more so than backpacking. I get most gear online or at local backpacking stores. No REI near where I am. The do however often have good deals on their web site.
