Welcome to the forums Mountain Tony. I'm not much help because my tent is much lower end than what you mentioned. The Fridge will have a great handle on those tents as to pros and cons. As for me, i picked up a Ledge Scorpion that has held up well under 6 inches of wet snow and several fall rains.

One thing to consider is a two person tent is really about big enough for one. If you intend to take a friend then look at 3 person tents as well. In winter the nights are so long that a roomy tent will be much appreciated.

I use a Hilleberg Kaitum 3 for the two of us. I got a 4-season tent, not for the snow loads or keeping the spindrift out but for the incredible winds up on the Colorado Plateau and keeping blowing sand out. I have had other tents destroyed and others filled with sand. This one works in bad conditions but for strength and the nice space inside the tent is relatively light weight. It also goes up and down very quickly. Scary price but I figure a fine backcountry lodge will run you over a hundred a night so it paid for itself in the first week. Everything in the following years has been free.

Also the vestibules are nice and large so the packs are close at hand and under shelter and there are two doors.

I have not owned any that you list but there are some great shelters offered these days.

I usually don't trek very far,
when all around blowing sands are.

Welcome aboard, mountain tony. Your're lucky...the asylum isn't full yet...!!!

Wish I could give you some ideas, but like some others on this forum, my gear also tends to be on the lower end. And anymore, I'm restricted to only UTE camping.

Ghostdog's photo shows a nice set-up, though. And, I see the tent is well secured. I like the natural tabletops that he makes use of, also.

If at first you do succeed, try not to look astonished...!!

NOTE:

"Pathfinder", who is now posting on this forum, is NOT Pathfinder1, which is me...!!

Afraid I am not much help either as I don't use a tent much. I have start to use a tarp instead.

There is winter camping, and then there is winter camping.

What is your destination, and how much other backpacking experience do you have?
