Some valid points. As I mentioned, I'm looking at alternative fuel options (ethanol, biodiesel, etc). With regard to roads being clogged, I think those of us who think with a prepper-mindset and have pre-arranged someplace to go will leave early and beat the crowds.

The theory behind a motorhome for a BOV is to first get to a bug out location. But, given you really don't know what kind of situation it may be, I'll have everything I need to move to a safer location if necessary or move where food/water may be more readily available if need be. I think mobility & flexibility with regard to location will be good to have.

I can see the need to have a bug out bag ready if there is a possibility of a hurricane or wildfire coming soon, or maybe even in tornado prone areas.

But I'm glad I'm not so paranoid as to think I constantly need to be uber prepared to abandon society at a moments notice. I don't have a BOB or BOV. I don't feel it is necessary. Now, if I were home and schist happened could I put together one in ten minutes or so? Yes.
