Default Has Anyone Camped In Pigeon Forge, Tenn?

I have been thinking about taking a car camping trip down to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. We love that area and really hadn't thought of car camping in that area. (duh) We usually go down and rent a motel room but with all of the diseases and bed bug outbreaks, we have started becoming motel/hotel shy. I think I would rather take my own bed and be sure it MY germs I'm sleeping with instead of someone else's. Just asking for some info if anyone has any experience.

I've never camped in Pigeon Forge. I have camped in the National Park a few times though. The National Park campgrounds are pretty nice. Generally, no showers though. So you either need an RV with them, or not care to bath out of a sink.

We stayed in a hotel across the river from a campground in Pigeon Forge once though. I think it was called Twin Mountain RV Park. There is another campground nearby to it Foothills I believe, it too is an RV Park.

We went over and looked around at the Twin Mountain Park. I liked it. The spaces were a little close together, but not terrible cramped. You can get spots near the river. In the warmer months you can rent tubes and ride them on the river in that section, but this time of year I imagine it's a little too cold for that.

These campgrounds are on the southern end of town, just before you exit Pigeon Forge.

Went to Gatlinburg a few miles off the main strip with my pop up a few yrs back. Want to say it was about 40 bucks a night, 5star campground with a pool/etc. but cant remember the name. Just google campgrounds in the area and read the reviews and you'll be fine.

I've never thought of that but it's a good idea. God knows what are in the motels around there. People come from all over and I wouldn't want to speculate on how many germs or cooties are on the phones, TV remotes and bedspreads in those and all of the motels/hotels everywhere. I'm getting more paranoid the older I get.

I haven't tried camping in Pigeon Forge, but I am considering renting a cabin near Gatlinburg. I just finished writing an article on the area and I am ready to go back. We have been twice, but stayed in a hotel each time.

Have been there twice this year. I just hang my hammock In the park at Elkmont Camp Grounds. Nice but as stated there are no showers any where in the park. Both times there we set up base camp at Elkmont.

I remember sitting in traffic in Pigeon Forge and wondering where all those people were staying. Honestly, there was as much traffic congestion as I've ever been in. We stayed in a small cabin backed up to a running stream. I would hate to have been trying to maneuver a trailer around in those narrow spaces. I do remember one major turn, too.

Hi...

How right you are...especially on the bedspreads (and TV remotes)...yikes.

Hi...

Regarding Pigeon Forge...just exactly how do you forge one? Does it hurt the pigeon? Should PETA be involved?
