Default Using Our Generator

The start of my son's motocross racing season will be here starting next week. When the race is at a distance we take our "toyhauler" and the on-board generator really comes in handy because you basically camp in the middle of a field. But we rarely ever have to use it elsewhere as most sites have hook-ups. But when we stop for a bite on the way somewhere, we just fire up the generator and can use the toaster or the microwave. Does anyone else have an on-board generator?

I am looking to purchase a portable generator for so called boondocking. Starting a generator to run a microwave or a toaster sounds kind of silly. I mainly use power for lights, music, and maybe the furnace in the early morning.

My two generators are for two purposes; one runs the freezers and fridge when the power goes out, the second runs the well at the same time. If the power goes out for an extended time, then I'll resort to the hand pump and the ice box. (provided I get my ice house built this summer)

I quit taking a generator camping 10 years ago. It disturbed my tranquility too much.

Just like Grandpa I gave up Generators years ago. it didn't take me long to figure out they way too noisy for me. The only thing we need a source of AC for is running the AC on our lil 18 ft camper. Everything else runs on battery, tv and microwave included and recharges from our suv. we often camp off the grid just not now to thanksgiving. We need a receptical. But i figure if ya in a field at a motocross rally Generator noise aint an issue.

We have a generator and I would recommend it because it is relatively quiet compared to some I have heard. We have a Honda.

Just stay off my mountain with that noisy thing! If you need air conditioning, microwaves and cable TV in the woods go get a motel room as I don't wanna listen to it all night.
I consider it very rude to ruin my familys quiet time in the woods with a freakin' POS generator running all night.
